Located in the heart of Gers, a region famous for its gastronomy with delicacies such as foie gras, duck confit, Gascony beef and local wines like Madiran and Côtes de Gascogne.

It’s the birthplace of Armagnac so be sure to squeeze in a tasting when visiting one of the many medieval villages in the area.

    Historical capital of the Gers region, known for its UNESCO listed impressive Gothic Cathedral of Sainte-Marie.


    Visit the statue of D’Artagnan, Gers’ most famous son, on your climb to the top of the city via the 370 step staircase.

    Experience the medieval old town and its cute boutiques, restaurants and café terraces. Try foies gras, confits, melons, croustade pies, signature Armagnac, Floc de Gascogne and of course Gers wine: Côtes de Gascogne, Saint-Mont, Madiran and Pacherenc. If you visit on a Thursday, don’t miss the market in the lower part of the town.

  • Larressingle

    Nicknamed “Little Carcassonne du Gers”, Larressingle is the smallest fortified village in France, at the heart of the Armagnac wine region.

    Visit the Medieval Siege Camp and let the kids handle a catapult, a stone thrower, a bricole, a trebuchet, and a ballista - dressed up as a knight or princess.

    Be sure to stop at the villages famous ice cream shop “Le Glacier”.

  • Abbaye de Flaran

    Considered a masterpiece of Cistercian architecture, Abbaye de Flaran features a beautifully preserved cloister and beautiful gardens. It regularly hosts concerts, workshops, and other special events and is also home to impressive artworks by European master painters from the 17th to 20th century such as Cézanne, Renoir, Matisse, Picasso, Monet.

    Combine with a wine tasting at nearby Domaine Entras, or venture a little further to the town of Condom, which offers a variety of tasting experiences. A few options include:

    Maison Dupeyron: historic Armagnac house with cellars dating back to the 19th century

    Maison Aurian: artisan distillers known for creative liqueurs and vintage Armagnacs

    Cave de Condom: a cooperative cellar representing over 200 local winegrowing families

    Ferme Martin Neuf: working farm offering tastings of their own foie gras, duck confits, pâtés, terrines, and other Gascon specialties
