A tourist hot spot in the Dordogne valley, Rocamadour is a stunning medieval town that cascades down a cliff high above the Alzou Valley. Whilst it’s a major point on the religious pilgrimage route, it is definitely worth a visit regardless of its religious significance.
At the top of the village, you’ll find the Château de Rocamadour, offering panoramic views over the Alzou valley that are absolutely breathtaking, especially at sunrise or sunset.
Notre Dame is the most sacred chapel in Rocamadour and considered the highlight for pilgrims. It houses the Black Madonna - said to perform miracles so go ahead and try your luck!
Visit the nearby wildlife park Rocher des Aigles and enjoy the famous eagle show, enjoy the playful monkeys at nearby Foret des Singes, or take a trip to discover the spectacular Gouffre de Padirac cave.
