Explore the Region

Montréal is located in the Gascony region, within a 2 hour drive of Toulouse and Bordeaux. The seaside town of Biarritz along the Atlantic coast lies 2.5 hours west of Montréal and the Spanish boarder and the Pyrenees mountains are about 3 hours south.

Gascony is famous for its hearty food (think foie gras, duck, and bayonne ham) and is also the birthplace of Armagnac. It is often referred to as “French Tuscany” due to its valleys and many medieval villages; Montréal itself, along with the nearby village of Fourcès, has been nominated as one of 6 “Les Plus Beaux Villages de France” in Gascony.

There are so many beautiful places to visit in the area, such as the larger towns of Bordeaux (wine), Toulouse (The Pink City), Nîmes (Roman monuments), and Biarritz (surfing).

In our guide below, we have instead focused on some of the perhaps lesser known gems worth visiting in and around the area.

We love France and hope you are as excited as we are to explore the South West further. If you have any questions about what to do, what to see, or where to go, please reach out to us.
